FAQ
Heating your greenhouse – frequently asked questions
What temperature should a greenhouse be kept at in winter?
For simple frost protection, around 5 °C is usually enough. Tender plants such as citrus or tropical plants often prefer 10–15 °C. A thermostat keeps the temperature stable automatically and saves energy.
How many watts does my greenhouse heater need?
That depends on the size of your greenhouse, the glazing and the temperature you want to reach. Our Greenhouse Heater Calculator gives you a recommendation in under a minute.
Electric or gas – which is better?
Electric heaters are easy to control with a thermostat and need no refilling – ideal wherever mains power is available. Gas heaters are the right choice for greenhouses and allotments without electricity.
Can I use the heater in summer too?
Yes – PALMA and PHOENIX can also run as a fan. Good air circulation in summer helps to prevent heat build-up and mould in the greenhouse.
